About Chiddingstone

James the Chimney Sweep, working in and around Chiddingstone

Chiddingstone, a one-street Tudor village, is located in the district of Sevenoaks in Kent. It is nestled right on the River Eden, found between Edenbridge and Tonbridge. A unique claim to fame is the fact that the village is owned by the National Trust – apart from the castle and St Mary’s Church. This is due to its Tudor heritage, which is unequalled in the county. Films using the village as a location include Elizabeth R, Life of Hogarth, The Wicked Lady, A Room with a View and Wind in the Willows. There are three nature reserves in the area, run by the Kent Wildelife Trust: Chiddingstone, Sevenoaks and Bough Green.
