About Langton Green

Langton Green is a splendid village only two miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells in the county of Kent. It is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A busy settlement, this Kentish abode has been frequented by visitors for many years, including royalty: the first Princess of Wales, Joanna, in 1353; Princess Louise, Queen Victoria’s daughter, in the 19th century, are two such examples. Sandstone from the village was used to develop Tunbridge Wells and Langton Green itself was enhanced with building works near the Building Ground about 1900 and later on in the Monteith Close/Dornden Drive area in the 1930s. There was another development spurt in the 1960s near Dornden Drive again and also Hither Chantlers. The development of the main road into the A264 from East Grinstead to Tunbridge Wells has helped the village shops to survive and do well.
