My name is James Hughes and I provide chimney sweeping services to clients in Kent and East Sussex. I have been in business for over 20 years and I am a member of the master guild of sweeps.

When an individual makes a chimney sweep enquiry I collect the following personal information:-

What I do with personal information

Personal information gathered via the telephone or website enquiry form is used to contact potential customers to discuss their sweeping requirements. Personal data is also used to remind previous clients it has been a year since their previous chimney sweep.

How long I retain personal information for

Data gathered via an email, telephone conversation or website enquiry form that does not lead to a chimney sweep is deleted. Hard copies are not kept. If a contractual agreement is in place then personal data can be kept for up to 5 years for inland revenue purposes. If clients request a sweep reminder, after a year personal data is used to contact previous clients to inform them that it is time for their annual chimney sweep.

  • Consent: the individual has given clear consent for me to process their personal data for a specific purpose.
  • b) Contract: the processing is necessary for a contract you have with the individual, or because they have asked you to take specific steps before entering into a contract.
